Description
Current Issues and Trends in Recreation and Parks
This course focuses on issues and trends that influence the recreation and parks sector in Canada. Attention will be given to the manner in which these issues/trends have an impact upon the financing, planning, programming, managing, and developmental policies and programs of recreation and parks services.
Participants will be encouraged to share and reflect on the issues/trends in relation to their local experience as they explore ways to engage and advance Framework for Recreation in Canada: Pathways to Wellbeing.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the learner will be able to:
- Identify major issues and trends in Canadians society that impact on recreation and parks systems.
- Identify and use reliable methods for tracking issues and trends.
- Identify implications of national issues/trends on local, organizational and personal contexts.
- Apply the Framework for Recreation in Canada: Pathways to Wellbeing in a local and personal context.
Course Length: 13 weeks
Delivery Method: Set schedule with deadlines.
Time Required: 2-3 hours per week
Prerequisite(s): Registration in the CPRA PDC and completion of CRT-100 (Introduction to Core Competencies in Recreation and Parks)
